Vancouver

Whew, busy times. Arrived in Vancouver yesterday afternoon, dropped our things at the house, grabbed some lunch then hit downtown Vancouver. First stop the Olympic torch, absolutely amazing. We waited in line for about 30 minutes, met some great Canadians then we were able to get up close to the Torch!

Today we were up early and off to the Vancouver Olympic Centre to watch womens curling. Had a really fun time, it's great to be able to watch that level of competition. I always try to guess what shot they will call. After our morning games we made a pit stop for food then took the train down town and strolled around. It was great to watch all the people and check out Vancouver.

We caught the train back to the Olympic Centre around 4 and stopped at a pub for a drink. Watched the beginning of the men's hockey game. USA vs Canada, what a fun time to be in a Canadian pub! Loved stirring them up!

Watched the 7 pm women's curling, the USA did not do very well but the Canada/China game was awesome! They had to play an extra end! Here's a prime example of trying to guess what shot the teams will play. Canada was down by one point with the hammer in the 9th end. Every shot put into the house was taken out. Canada had one rock in the house behind the T-line, China's last rock. China called for a take-out. Personally I would have called a freeze shot, Canada has last rock. My thinking is if you freeze on Canada's rock they will have a more difficult time cleaning the house and may have to take a point then you have hammer in the 10th end. China takes out Canada's rock and sits in the house. Canada clears the house and retains last rock going into the 10th end; they are still down by one point. Long story short Canada gets one point in the 10th end and they have to play an extra end. It was a really exciting game made all the more exciting by sitting in the stands surrounded by a sea of Canadians. I wonder though what would have happened if China would have called the freeze shot??? Would Canada have taken a point? Would they have won the game???
